Major Clients

Jack P. Friedman & Associates, LLC

Jack is a real estate and finance author and consultant in Dallas, Texas, and is my oldest client, having been with me from the beginning. I typed his doctoral dissertation in 1975 and since that time have prepared book manuscripts, reports, and a variety of other materials for him. He identifies me as one of his people and has given me credit as a contributor to Barron's Dictionary of Business Terms.

Creative Outlet Dance Center

From 1985 through 2019 I prepared concert programs, brochures, fliers, and other materials for this dance studio, where I also attended ballet classes twice a week. The studio now has a new owner and has become Creative Outlet Dance Academy.

Dean Mosher Studio

Dean is an artist and historian who for the past two decades has concentrated on historical subjects, including historic naval battles and the career of the Wright Brothers. I prepare all his correspondence and other typed materials used in promotion of his paintings and securing commissions.

Over the Transom Publishing Company

For a list of the books I've copyedited and typeset for this small press, see the Books page. I have also done copy editing for owner Sonny Brewer; books Ive copyedited include his forthcoming novel The Poet of Tolstoy Park and all four volumes of Stories from the Blue Moon Café.

Occasional Clients

Bay Breeze Guest House and Church Street Inn

Fellow Rotarian Becky Jones owns both these properties (Church Street Inn is no longer a bed-and-breakfast inn, however). I created all the illustrated pages for the instruction books she puts in the rooms and have also typeset brochures, fax cover sheets, and other materials. The full-color gift certificates I print for Bay Breeze use a background that looks like a sunset view over Mobile Bay from the guest house porch. Becky told me that some of her patrons have liked them so much they want to frame them!

Printers

I occasionally do typesetting for local printers. In the past, these have included Postmark Ink, Print-N-Press, Duplicators, and Gambino Graphics.

Organizations

I have typeset yearbooks (annual directories) for the Gulf Yachting Association and Delta Kappa Gamma (an educators honorary society) and done a variety of jobs for other organizations.

Writers

I have edited and typed manuscripts for a number of writers, most of them not for publication. Some published authors I have worked for are L. Tracy Girdler, Leon Megginson, Mike Papantonio, Anne Kent Rush, Reilly Maginn, and Tim Tigner.

Volunteer Work

Rotary Club of Fairhope

I have been a member of the club since 1994, bulletin editor since 1995, and a director since 1997. As Communications Director, I publish the weekly bulletin, write press releases for local media, send invitation letters to new members, communicate with club members by mail and email, and prepare a variety of printed materials for club use. Since 2003 the club has paid me a small stipend for this work, but it is still mostly a volunteer effort.

Fairhope Public Library

From 1999 to 2001, I served on the librarys Board of Trustees. In past years I created several versions of the library brochure. This has now been taken over by the library staff.

Friends of the Fairhope Public Library

From 1990 to 2002, I served on the board of directors of the FFPL. During that time I served as membership chairman and editor of the semiannual newsletter. I created several versions of the organizations brochure, as well as invitations, posters, membership letters and forms, and other printed materials. I also sporadically wrote the Library Lines column for the Fairhope Courier (79 columns over 13 years, plus another four since I retired in October 2002).

Pensters Writing Group

I joined the organization in 2016 and in 2017 took over creation of the organization’s yearbook. I was elected secretary for 20192021. In 2019 I copyedited and helped format the group’s anthology.
